Counselling & Psychotherapy

At times EVERYONE needs someone to talk to, without judgment, without attitude, with open arms.

A country road between a green field and a freshly ploughed field.

We are here to help.

Counselling is a supportive and collaborative process where clients are assisted in dealing with aspects of their life that may be causing them turmoil, discomfort, stress, worry, fear, anger, and/or confusion. Counselling provides the client with a safe supportive place where they can explore these deep personal issues without fear of judgment. Counselling can help clients to identify coping strategies that are no longer working and offer new and effective ways of dealing with problems.

Counselling can also provide valuable feedback regarding the interpretation and understanding of personal life experiences, helping clients to achieve new insights into themselves and their relationships. In its entirety, counselling is a process that gives individuals an opportunity to explore new and effective ways of understanding and dealing with the challenges that face them, enabling them to grow, move forward and live more fulfilling lives with a greater sense of well-being.

The Counsellor provides the client with support, guidance and encouragement in understanding and coping with problems, resolving issues, attaining goals and achieving personal insight. The counsellor may often be the only source of support that a client has, offering a warm, open and friendly place where a client can open up and feel safe sharing their personal struggles.

Working from a respectful, client-centered approach, the counsellor guides their client through a process of investigation to understand the source of a presenting issue, to identify what is working well, what is not working well and any barriers that may be preventing the client from achieving their goals. Building on the client’s own strengths, a counsellor works collaboratively with the client to identify and facilitate the creation of solutions or alternative courses of action. Although clients’ goals for counselling are as individual and varied as the clients themselves, typically clients leave counselling feeling emotionally stronger, empowered and more capable of dealing with the issues facing them.

Counselling is something we may all benefit from at various times in our lives. We are all attempting to live fulfilling and productive lives but occasionally we encounter problems or situations that maybe too much to handle on our own. Sometimes the way in which we typically handle a problem doesn’t work as effectively anymore. Alternately, it could be more of an accumulation of things that gets us down, making us feel overwhelmed and unable to cope with even the smallest things. Perhaps there’s a situation or a relationship that has become disruptive in our lives. Or maybe there’s something deeper that you want to explore in yourself, an issue or a hurt that is ready to be healed.

No matter what the reason, the decision to seek help is a sign of strength and courage. No one questions us when we consult with a professional regarding financial matters, home renovations or medical conditions. Similarly, working with a counsellor can provide us with knowledge, insight & understanding; reinforce our current strengths; and offer new solutions and adaptations to life’s challenges in a meaningful and rewarding way.

Counselling can be used at any time, for whatever reason, big or small. It is a vehicle of insight, change, prevention and life enhancement.
