Beat stress with an ancient tradition.
Auricular medicine is a diagnostic and treatment system in which energetically sensitive points are detected on the ear through the use of pressure or electrical stimulation. These points are used to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions through manual stimulation or with treatment using an acupuncture needle.
A French physician named Dr. Paul Noger developed auricular medicine nearly 50 years ago. Dr. Noger observed that the pulse of his patients would change in response to medications placed on their bodies. Through experimentation and careful refinement, he slowly developed a system of “diagnosis” that is commonly taught in medical schools across Europe. According to Auricular medicine, as the body moves towards a greater state of balance, the energetic field that surrounds the body, will move in. When the body is out of balance or “dislikes” a particular substance, the body’s field will move out.
Interestingly, Traditional Chinese medicine has noted for over 1000 years that the body’s protective Qi, Wei Qi, will move closer to the surface when the body is in harmony and will move further away when under stress such as with a cold or illness. While these observations may sound more like science fiction than science fact, research at several US universities has begun to examine the influence of various substances on the surrounding electron structure of living entities. Their observations suggest that by simply moving substances such as mercury or water closer or further away from the body, electron particles will more out and in respectively. This movement of electrons is akin to the electro-magnetic field that surrounds the body.
A typical experience with Auricular medicine not only involves the use of energetic diagnostics, but is equally reliant on an acupuncture system found on the ear. The ear contains hundreds of acupuncture points that can be used for complaints as diverse as labour induction to smoking cessation. When used in conjunction with the diagnostic qualities of auricular medicine, ear acupuncture provides a direct and assertive energetic treatment that can have effects that last longer than a typical acupuncture session. Auricular medicine is available at the Integrative Health Institute.
