Yoga Therapy

The emerging field of yoga therapy uses yoga to address mental-emotional and physical challenges through the appropriate integration of body, mind and spirit. Practitioners work one-on-one or in a small group setting to assist clients with individualized yoga postures, therapeutic conversation, meditation and breathing techniques.

Among its many beneficial effects, yoga has been shown to increase strength, flexibility, and balance; enhance immune function; lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels; and improve psychological well-being.

Fertility support, insomnia and anxiety are just some of the challenges that yoga therapy can work to address. In recent years, research has documented the efficacy of yoga for additional conditions such as back pain, multiple sclerosis, cancer, heart disease, and even tuberculosis.

Studies are also increasingly documenting how yoga works. Among its many beneficial effects, yoga has been shown to increase strength, flexibility, and balance; enhance immune function; lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels; and improve psychological well-being.

Specific Yoga Classes

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” In other words, the teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or exhale. These classes are all semi-private and can accommodate students of various levels and backgrounds. It is a very supportive yet empowering space to practice.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a gentle and supportive form of yoga that uses props and other forms of support to stretch the body. It is generally a more gentle form of yoga that is ideal for those looking for a less aggressive form practice or recovering from an injury. It literally will restore your body, mind and spirit.

Pre-natal Yoga
Love your belly yoga

Pregnancy and childbirth are transformative periods in a women’s life. The experience creates, not only a new appreciation for one’s physical body, but also a new sense of awareness and wonder at the impending role of becoming a parent. Our prenatal yoga class is a supportive and tranquil environment that honours the physical, emotional and spiritual journey of pregnancy.

Post-natal Yoga
Love your baby, love your body

The period following childbirth is a unique time for both mom and baby. Despite a new sense of awe and wonder, a women’s body benefits from a supportive and restorative approach to the early days of motherhood. The wisdom of motherhood recognizes that you can nourish you children and family best when you too are physically and emotionally supported. Post-natal yoga provides a unique opportunity to not only bond with your baby, but to nourish yourself at the same time.
