Dr. Tabrizi, a family chiropractor and passionate member of the local community, has a goal to teach that the pursuit of optimal health and wellness is much more than being symptom free.
“Your first wealth is your health” - Emerson
Dr. Tabrizi completed his undergraduate studies at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, B.C. where he obtained a bachelors degree in psychology with a focus on cognitive neuropsychology.
Mehran with his trophy for winning the men's race of the Inside Ride initiative that he participated in along with Erin WIley in May 2008. All money goes to children with cancer and their families.
After completing his stay at SFU, Dr. Tabrizi, like many of us, experienced family sickness. Frustrated by the myopic attitude of his father’s caregivers, he questioned the prevailing attitudes regarding health in our society. This journey led him to change his pursuits both personally and professionally and he then went on to obtain his Doctor of Chiropractic from Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, Missouri.
“After minimizing or eliminating pain and symptoms, attention can be focused on attaining wellness; demonstrated by increasing resistance to disease, aging without disability, optimizing energy, sleeping more soundly and becoming emotionally and physically hardy.
When all of these things are in place we are left with a more positive attitude and improved relationships.”
Dr. Tabrizi’s philosophy is shaped by his extensive travels to Central and South Asia, Europe and the Gulf States. During these travels he experienced many assorted applications of local practitioners and indigenous healers. As a clinician however, he is most importantly influenced by his own personal mottos: “There is no monopoly on knowledge” and “Listen and empower the patient.”

One of the biggest misconceptions about therapy is that seeing a therapist is a sign of weakness. In fact, quite the opposite is true. Recognizing the need for help and seeking professional therapy is a sign of both strength and determination to overcome a particular problem in order to move forward.

Kashri Bhookmohan is a Registered Massage Therapist and completed post-secondary training in a two-year diploma program at Seneca College for Esthetics and Spa Management. While at Seneca, Kashri developed a strong passion to learn more about the musculoskeletal system, associated pathologies and how a therapeutic touch can help in the healing process.
After graduating from Seneca, she enrolled at the Sutherland-Chan School for Massage Therapy, completing over 2200 hours in practical and theoretical applications before graduating as a massage therapist in 2007. Kashri strongly values education, whether it is through school or her own clinical experience. She encourages patients; as well as herself, to never stop learning and to pursue a greater understanding of new knowledge. In her time at IHI, Kashri has had her eyes opened to the fascinating world of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has completed a basic Shiatsu course and a Fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine course at the Shiatsu School of Canada. Kashri is furthering her education as she has recently begun to study acupuncture.
Kashri’s greatest lessons have come to her through her patients; to be grateful for life, appreciate all that we are given and to know that even when times are hard they will always get better. As a reflection of her experience as a practitioner, Kashri has started to shift her clinical mindset from a Western musculoskeletal point of view to an Eastern medical perspective. Eastern philosophy supports the view that the body, mind, and spirit aren’t just analytical and linear but a cyclical garden. We need to be in tune to ourselves as it functions as a whole rather than separately. Through the touch of massage therapy, she hopes to help patients understand and recognize disharmonies within their bodies which could help them to better understand what is happening to them on a holistic level. As a true proponent of integrative medicine, Kashri believes strongly, that patients will benefit most significantly by utilizing all of IHI’s services in an conscious and integrative manner.

Melissa is a Birth Doula, Post Natal Doula, and Birthing From Within Mentor. She is honoured to be supporting parents as they journey down the path of parenthood.
Melissa's passion for birth began in childhood as a direct result of her mother's work supporting and educating parents in having a positive birth experience. Her passion grew as she immersed herself in the world of womens reproductive health care while volunteering and working at The Midwives Collective of Toronto, volunteering as a labour support coach with teen parents at Jessie's Centre (now the June Callwood Centre) and volunteering at Mount Sinai Hospital in the High Risk Pregnancy Clinic and Reproductive Biology Unit.
Melissa's love for pregnancy, birth and babies combined with her deep desire and passion to support and nurture positive life experience led her to doula care. Her specialized honours degree in Kinesiology and Health Science, background in sexual health education, training as a birth doula, post natal doula, Birthing From Within mentor, and acupressure for labour give Melissa a solid educational foundation to base her care on.

back to topA graduate of the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and History, I have been in search of one thing since my graduation: inspiration. While travelling Canada and settling in different cities I have been fortunate enough to find inspiration. Finding it in both the obvious- our country’s naturally beautiful landscape (the Rockies, the Aurora Borealis) and the not so obvious - the blisters on our naturally beautiful landscape and those who suffer from the cracks in our social programs. Although I have been inspired, I have not yet found my path in life. Despite this, I have enjoyed forging my own journey and am happy to have stumbled across the Integrative Health Institute or IHI.
IHI is a place I am proud to be a part of. IHI values being an active member in the community, the conservation of the environment, and a promoter of education of healthy and holistic living, all of which are dear to my heart. The nurturing environment here at IHI is a place I am happy to spend my evenings and occasional Saturdays. When I am not behind the desk I can be found cooking, reading, volunteering, sewing or strumming, quite poorly, my guitar. So come on by and say hi, I look forward to meeting you and assisting you in whatever way I can to help you reach your healthy living goals!
Leah is delighted to be working as part of the IHI team. After considering careers in such diverse fields as law enforcement and nursing, Leah found her passion for assisting others by pursuing a diploma in Medical Office Administration at Everest College. She is thrilled to have found a career that fosters her organizational skills and enables them to be put to use in a health care environment where caring and helping others are priorities.
Leah was an active member of the Army Cadets and has been a volunteer officer of the organization for many years. She has received recognition and awards for her dedication to duty. When she is not caring for clients at IHI, Leah is the proud mom to two young children.
For Leah, being part of the IHI team feels like home away from home. Leah is very thankful to the IHI team for giving her a chance to work with such a respectable group of knowledgeable and dedicated practitioners.
